Ilonggos unite for the National Day of Action

Various groups join forces for the commemoration of the 46th anniversary of Martial Law declaration yesterday, September 21, 2018 at Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
The event was participated by student movements, youth organizations and alliances, religious sectors, college and university-based student councils, as well as multi-sectoral group of farmers, workers, IPs/Tumandok, lawyers, and teachers.The mobilization started with a march from the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City Campus up to the Iloilo Provincial Capitol where a short program was held.

Students prepared banners, flags, and placards with the captions , and such as a means to voice out the issues of the Duterte administration which is reflective of the Marcos regime. This is to show that even up to this day, the Filipino people still remember the sufferings of the country during the Martial Law, especially the surviving victims who testified as proofs of torture and abuse.

Senator Risa Hontiveros was also in full support during the program as she spoke to the people about the issues under the Duterte administration. In an interview with the senator, she gives her statement about the US-Duterte regime stating that it is no longer about the US-Duterte, but the China-Duterte alliance as well.
According to James Darryl Peñas, current USC Chairperson of UP Visayas, as citizens of the country, it is a sin to turn a blind eye when you already know the truth. Thus, he congratulates everyone especially the students who gathered and took part in the mobilization.

It has begun. Students are now marching towards the Iloilo Provincial Capitol for the commemoration of the 46th Anniversary of Martial Law.
