As we prepare for the 505th Kadaugan sa Mactan, I would like to share an important update regarding this year’s re-enactment. Our previous leads, Shaun Pelayo and Habibi, will not be able to reprise their roles as Datu Lapu-Lapu and Reyna Bulakna due to personal and business commitments. As a mother, I understand the importance of family, especially with Habibi welcoming another member in their family. We respect their decision, we wish them well, and we look forward to welcoming them again in future celebrations.

This year, we are proud to present a new set of talents who will take on these iconic roles. Acclaimed model and actor Elcid Camacho will portray Datu Lapu-Lapu, bringing with him a strong presence and an impressive background, including being a Mr. Universe 2022 titleholder, actor, director, and CEO of Bisayaflix. His discipline and stature reflect the courage and leadership that define our hero. Alongside him is Akiko Solon, a proud Oponganon from Barangay Maribago, who will take on the role of Reyna Bulakna. With her experience as a performer, former Star Magic artist, and her work in the creative industry, she embodies the grace and strength worthy of the role.

Completing the main cast is Kevin Lahousse, who will portray Ferdinand Magellan, setting the stage for the historic encounter that shaped our identity. Together, they will bring to life a story that continues to define who we are as Oponganons.

The Kadaugan sa Mactan remains our flagship celebration, honoring the bravery of our ancestors and the victory that marked a defining moment in our history. This annual re-enactment reflects our heritage, our pride, and our unity as a people.

With Elcid and Akiko leading the re-enactment, we highlight our history while showcasing the strength and talent of Bisaya artists on a wider stage.
