Super Typhoon FRANCISCO (MEKKHALA) continues to maintain its strength while moving slowly over the Philippine Sea east of Northern Luzon.

🧭 Movement: West-northwestward at 10 km/h

🌧️ The enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the outer circulation of Francisco may bring occasional rains and strong to gale-force gusts over parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

🌊 Rough seas remain possible along the eastern seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and northeastern Cagayan. Small fishing boats and other light vessels are advised not to venture out to sea.

📢 FRANCISCO is forecast to remain far from the Philippine landmass and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday morning, June 26.

🌀 TYPHOON (MEKKHALA) UPDATE 📅 As of 8:30 PM | June 22, 2026

Typhoon Francisco continues to intensify over the Philippine Sea and is expected to reach Super Typhoon category within the next 12 to 24 hours while moving west-northwestward north of Luzon. Forecast models indicate that the cyclone may gradually weaken after reaching peak intensity as it turns northward later this week.

🌊 Rough to very rough seas remain over the seaboards of Northern and Eastern Luzon. Small sea vessels are advised not to venture out into affected waters.

📢 Residents in Northern Luzon, especially those under TCWS No. 1, are advised to monitor the latest PAGASA bulletins as additional areas may be placed under higher wind signals should Francisco continue to intensify.

🔹 7 students injured in a knife attack allegedly carried out by a schoolmate.

🔹 A Grade 11 student was stabbed by a schoolmate.

🔹 3 people reported dead and 5 injured in an alleged shooting involving a schoolmate.

Authorities continue to investigate these incidents while schools are urged to strengthen security, guidance services, and violence prevention programs.

Tropical Storm continues to intensify over the Philippine Sea east of the country. Based on the latest forecast guidance, the system is expected to strengthen into a Severe Tropical Storm within the next 24 hours and may reach Typhoon intensity by June 23.

• June 23 (8 PM): 162 km/h | 950 hPa 🌪️ Typhoon
• June 24 (8 PM): 144 km/h | 965 hPa
• June 25 (8 PM): 108 km/h | 980 hPa
• June 26 (8 PM): 90 km/h | 990 hPa

🌀 Current projections show moving generally northward over the Philippine Sea and remaining east of the Philippines. However, residents in Eastern Luzon and Eastern Visayas are advised to monitor official updates as forecast tracks may still change.
