The University of the Assumption, through the University Library and Archives and the Center for Cultural and Literary Studies, invites scholars, researchers, educators, students, artists, writers, cultural workers, and community practitioners to submit paper and presentation proposals for the 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.
With the theme:
“𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐨 𝐚𝐭 𝟑𝟓: 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥”
the conference seeks to examine the continuing cultural, historical, environmental, artistic, and social impact of the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption after thirty-five years.
We welcome interdisciplinary and community-based perspectives that contribute to conversations on remembrance, resilience, heritage, and renewal.

the conference commemorates the 35th year of the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption by bringing together scholars, researchers, artists, cultural workers, educators, students, and community leaders to reflect on the enduring impact of Pinatubo on culture, heritage, memory, environment, and identity.

✨ KEYNOTE SPEAKER ✨
We are honored to welcome 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐲𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐬 as the conference keynote speaker.
Ms. Sulapas is a Senior Science Research Specialist at the NOAH Center of the UP Resilience Institute, specializing in hazard assessment, geohazards, GIS, and remote sensing. With more than 11 years of experience as a Geologist, her work focuses on seismic and volcanic hazards, ground deformation monitoring, and community resilience. She recently completed her Master of Science in Geology at UP Diliman and continues to advocate for science communication and disaster preparedness. Drawing lessons from major hazardous events—including the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption—her work emphasizes the importance of integrating geohazard monitoring with community preparedness and resilience-building efforts.

The conference is now accepting paper and presentation proposals related to:

• Kapampangan culture and heritage
• Disaster studies and resilience
• Literature, poetry, and the arts
• Environmental and social impacts of Pinatubo
• Indigenous and community experiences
• Cultural preservation and regional identity
• Education, history, and public memory
Researchers, educators, students, artists, and practitioners are encouraged to submit abstracts and participate in this meaningful academic and cultural gathering.

Nag-alab ang mga salita at damdamin sa unang araw ng Ligligan Poesyang Makuyad—isang pagdiriwang ng husay at lalim ng panitikang Filipino. Mula sa makapangyarihang lektura hanggang sa makabuluhang workshop, muling pinatunayan na ang panulaan ay buhay, humihinga, at patuloy na sumasalamin sa ating pagkatao bilang Pilipino.
