Snap and Slay Camera Rental

⚠️ PUBLIC AWARENESS POST – POSSIBLE RENTAL SCAM INCIDENT⚠️

I am sharing this incident to warn other rental businesses and individuals. The identity of the person involved has **not yet been fully verified**, but the following information was provided to me during the transaction.

My camera unit is currently missing, which has severely affected my small rental business that I just started.

📌 Incident Date: March 11
📌 Purpose stated by renter: “Okada birthday party”
📌 Name used: MICHAEL CARANDANG (based on the ID provided)

It’s been a few days since this traumatic incident happened to me. I didn’t post right away because I was still trying to process everything. But I know I need to share this for awareness and to hopefully prevent this from happening to others.

📩 I received a same-day rental inquiry for my camera. The person initially refused to provide a down payment, stating that he had previously been scammed. After several messages, the booking eventually proceeded.

The item was released through a Grab delivery rider.

🚩 Issues encountered during the transaction:

• The person who received the item was NOT the same person as the name on the ID provided (according to the Grab rider).

• The rider was redirected multiple times to different locations (Tapa King → Shopwise).

• Eventually, the item was picked up by another motorcycle rider (Joyride), which suggests that the item may have been transferred to another person after pickup.

• When I attempted to terminate the rental agreement and retrieve my equipment, the person became aggressive over the phone and used abusive language.

Additionally, the camera accessories (protective case, holder, and magnetic mount) that were included with the unit were missing.

In an attempt to resolve the situation peacefully, I offered to process a full refund using the same documented process we previously used. I informed him that I would book a Grab rider, and he could take a photo of the rider’s plate number and wait for the refund to be completed before returning the item. However, the equipment has not been returned, and the address provided does not appear to be the actual location of the renter.

I am currently gathering all documentation and evidence (messages, booking details, rider information, and transaction records) and will be submitting a formal report to the appropriate authorities.

Please be cautious when dealing with same-day rentals, third-party deliveries, and identity verification.
