8:00 Minutes Meditation on Ja Laila| Aneel Azam| Rubab Jaa Laila Lyricist: Rahim Ullah Rahim
A very good experience today in Lahore. I lost my phone somewhere in Lahore. When I initially called, my phone was ringing but wasn't being answered. Within ten minutes, a person named Ali answered my phone, located me, and literally came to my apartment to return my phone. I have thousands of contacts, bank accounts, emails, and especially my personal data on my phone. Such a beautiful day and the person I encountered.
Not only in Hunza but there are nice people around the world; some might be bad, but there are thousands of very good people.
A huge respect to Ali bhai and the people of Lahore. I spent 4 years in Lahore with a different perspective about Punjabis. I truly say that I have many Punjabi friends, and I have very good memories with them. Though it was difficult to understand initially due to some preconceived notions, I have had a very lovely experience. Today, I am truly the opposite of what I was thinking about the people of Punjab.
Lahore has my heart. Thank you so much, Ali bhai. Really, thanks!
Yes, this was the 'Explore Pakistan Save the Glaciers' campaign.
We didn't ruin your culture; we didn't use alcohol or drugs, and we make ensure that no one used drugs. In the 'Explore Pakistan Save the Glaciers' campaign, everyone dressed appropriately and ethically.
The 'Explore Pakistan Save the Glaciers' campaign was a pre-planned event organized by The Catalyst. Its aim was to raise awareness about the glaciers in danger and encourage people to protect them through small initiatives, such as reducing trash, using fewer vehicles, and promoting green practices.
The entire community organizations were against us because we were holding a musical event, but an interesting thing is that they didn't understand the type of musical event we intended and the kind of music we wanted to perform. However, we are musicians, graphic designers, videographers, sculptors, and artists. If we're wrong for making music and supposedly ruining your culture, then aren't you promoting this culture when you enjoy music in your homes and host musical evenings in hotels?
The most challenging aspect of this campaign was the feeling that you are no longer the people of Hunza. Culture is not solely about clothing; it also encompasses language and actions. You granted us permission to organize the event and then blamed us at the last minute for endangering your culture. Is this your culture?
Is it part of your culture to produce alcohol? Many Hunzais are producing alcohol in their homes, and you can often see intoxicated youth in hotels or on the streets. Is this your culture?
Where are the community organizations that
were telling us that musical events promote alcohol? Have you effectively controlled drug use? If you believe that I should question the government about this, my response is that if the organizations of Hunza are that powerful and can grant or deny permissions, then it is not my place to question the government. You are responsible for this; community organizations are involved in portraying a negative image of Hunza. Many people have been driven to su***de due to this mistreatment, and it's hard to believe that this is the action of our own community. What can a single, impoverished person do against these inadequate organizations? We were a team of a hundred, and it was still challenging. What could a single person do in this society?
We followed all your instructions and organized our event as you requested. I have a few questions for the community organizations: Local Council Altit Karimabad, Local concil Gojal, Regional Council Hunza, GOLD Gulmit, Boating Association Shiskat, Umbrella Community Shiskat, Nabardar Shiskat, and those individuals who criticized The Catalyst on Facebook for damaging their culture and promoting drugs.
1. Will you take action against those involved in alcohol production?
2. Will you stop all events happening in the evening, in hotels and anywhere?
3. Will you genuinely protect your culture?
4. Will you not allow everyone to have a musical event anywhere in Hunza?
5. Will you stop any events happening in Hunza that are not part of our culture?
6. Will you stop tourism, which is a major factor that is allegedly ruining your culture?
7. Will you stop your children from going beyond Hunza because they are going to different cities and countries, where they are exposed to different cultures, and that are applying in Hunza ?
I will take these questions to the national media if you cannot address them. You have to provide answers to these questions.
Overall, I want to say that we had a successful event and accomplished our mission. We understand our norms and culture, and we don't need your alcoholic culture. Hunza is no longer 100 percent literate; they are promoting drugs, and their culture seems to be limited to clothing. I can Prof it to you!!
I am very thankful to the Altit community for allowing us to hold our closing ceremony at Altit Ground in the last 12 hours. Special thanks to TMS Altit, SAFA volunteers, Boy Scouts, and every individual who supported us and actually believed in our mission to promote environmentally responsible practices
For those intelligent people who suggested that we should have a musical event without music, yes, we finally had a musical event with music!
