On Wednesday, Federal minister of science and technology Senator Shibli faraz said while talking to media that the locally made EVM machine which is a voting machine to cast votes without the risk of hacking and bugs, is better than that made by India,, meaning the one Pakistan Made is better in quality and lower risk.

He said, the EVM will introduced to chamber of Commerce, Universities, and Provincial assemblies and bar council, “as relevant stakeholders will be approached”. He further added, that awareness campaigns for the public will run to educate the people about its usage and its effectiveness in the elections and training of relevant staff will also be conducted.

The minister added, that all the issues and queries raised by the lection Commission of Pakistan were addressed and the EVM was made according to that for the satisfaction of ECP, thus all the standards and requirements provided were ,et. There were around 58 requirements and all of them were completed, he further added “he there are any more demands by the ECP those will be catered as well regarding the EVM”.

Shibli faraz said, “Each button on the machine has only single function and it has been made keeping in mind the security aspects. It has three units and Due to lack of connectivity to the internet, Bluetooth and operating system it cannot be hacked.

First Shariah-complaint POS of Pakistan is launched by HBL by posting a green device photo in local newspapers.

Head of Islamic Banking, Muhammad Afaq khan, HBL said, “For convenience for its customers, HBL Islamic always tries its best to have less problematic and innovative solutions. HBL Islamic banking‘s head of corporate affairs, Farhan Ahmed said backed by Shariah-complaint merchant establishment agreement, the POS will only facilitate Shariah-complaint transactions” and that “POS will reject any non-compliant transactions and is supported by Islamic banking merchant accounts”, he further added, “ businesses which are Shariah-complaint, at those venues the machine will be installed’.

The machine will be helpful for businesses that are unwilling to use interest-based financing modes as financial experts maintain the launch.

The director of center of excellence in Islamic Finance, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui said, “ businesses will be inclined towards opening Islamic banking accounts, especially the organizations that are sensitive to non-compliant dealing and it will encourage merchants to open Islamic Bank accounts as well:”.
