Bilateral femur fracture in a teenager, updated
Female, 15 yrs old, with a su***de attempt by falling from a height (a building with three floors), leading to bilateral femur fracture one month ago. The right one was a closed fracture. The left one was comminuted with the presence of two pieces, each one about 5 square cm, at the middle shaft, open fracture with wound about 2 cm in the anterior thigh. Treated on the day of the accident by open reduction and internal fixation. The left femur treated in addition to the plate, lag screws to fix these pieces. The left femur recently developed infection with discharge pus; treated two weeks ago by debridement and heavy IV antibiotics, but still there is discharge of pus, although less. The first X-ray shown is of the left femur and the second one is of the right femur. Now the duration of the fracture is two months and half .She is overweight about 90 kg weight .Both of plates start to bend , Another attack of discharge pus in the left femur treated by debridement and IV antibiotic. The pus is stopped . I think I will exchange the plate in the left femur by an ex fix . These are the last x ray of the fracture. Now she is afebrile . The first two x ray views are the last x ray which are taken now . The last two x ray views are postoperative x ray which are taken immediately after the operation.
