What is Global Recycle Standard (GRS)?
The GRS is an international, voluntary, full product standard
that sets out requirements for third-party certification of
recycled content, chain of custody, social and
environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
GCL International’s accredited scope for GRS includes:
1.Content of recycled fibres in textile products
2.Content of recycled metal in metal products
3.Content of recycled plastic in plastic products
4.Content of recycled paper in paper products
The objectives of GRS:
1.To align definitions across multiple applications
2.To track and trace recycled input materials
3.To provide customers (brands and consumers) with a tool to make informed decisions
4.To reduce any harmful impact of production to people and the environment
5.To provide assurance that materials in the final product are recycled and sustainably processed
6.To drive innovation in addressing quality issues in the use of recycled materials
