As the British Raj tightened its grip on India, tensions ran high in the haveli. In 1919, the Singh family found themselves caught in the middle of a tense confrontation between Indian protesters and British troops led by General Reginald Dyer.

The protesters had gathered in the nearby Jallianwala Bagh to peacefully protest the arrest of Indian leaders, but were met with deadly force by Dyer and his troops. The haveli, located just a few blocks away from the Bagh, became a refuge for many of the wounded and the families of the victims.

Amidst the chaos, a young Indian freedom fighter sought shelter in the haveli, pursued by British soldiers. The Singhs, who sympathized with the Indian independence movement, offered him sanctuary, risking their own safety in the process.

After a tense standoff, the British troops eventually withdrew, but not before leaving a lasting mark on the haveli. The Singh family never forgot the bravery of the young freedom fighter, and his story became a symbol of hope and resilience for generations to come.
