Value Stream Mapping is often introduced as a simple Lean exercise, but in reality, it is one of the most strategic tools available to manufacturing and operations leaders. When done correctly, VSM exposes the hidden reality of how value actually flows through an organization not how it is assumed to flow. In this video,

What becomes immediately visible through Value Stream Mapping is the gap between value-added time and total lead time. In many manufacturing environments, only a small fraction of the total time truly adds value, while the majority is consumed by waiting, excessive inventory, rework, unbalanced workloads and poorly synchronized information flow.

By laying this out visually in a single map, teams can clearly see bottlenecks, constraints, push systems and firefighting loops that are otherwise hidden inside departments and spreadsheets.
