JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s connection to fashion has been two-way. Hirohiko Araki is literally a fashion designer disguised as a Mangaka, and draws heavy inspiration from high fashion magazines like Vogue, Dior, and Haute Couture. The influence of his interest in high fashion has been seen throughout the series, from poses copying iconic magazine issues from Versace and Vogue Italia, to characters named after designers and brands like Hermes and Armani. 

JoJo’s impact on fashion has been nothing short of iconic either. Araki partnered twice with Gucci (2011 and 2013), releasing 2 short comics featuring Gucci (“Rohan Kishibe Goes to Gucci” and “Jolyne, Fly High with GUCCI”), alongside multiple exhibitions worldwide. The first collaboration also included the Japanese fashion magazine “Spur“. Araki then went on to collaborate with Bulgari on “BVLGARI & Hirohiko Araki Japan-limited Capsule Collection” in 2017 among many other fashion collaborations.

It’s pretty well understood that Ye’s SoFi stage design directly references Akira’s opening nuclear explosion, but his art has been inspired by Akira since 2007. His music video for “Stronger” practically copies scenes from the anime frame for frame. Even his fashion, like the iconic all-red look for Donda, was inspired by outfits from the show. He goes as far as to call Katsuhiro Otomo his biggest creative inspiration.

Akira’s global success paved the way for anime like Ghost in the Shell and Neon Genesis: Evangelion. It is still, to date, one of the most influential anime of all time.

We used a soft fleece fabric for the outside, as well as quilting in order to provide extra warmth. Every detail was crafted carefully to ensure practicality as well as style.
