🚫✋ International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM)

💔In *2026 alone*, an estimated *4.5 million girls* — many under age five — are at risk of female ge***al mutilation. Today, more than *230 million girls and women* live with its lifelong health and emotional consequences.

👉 FGM is a *harmful practice and a violation of human rights*. It can cause serious physical and mental health problems, and costs the world about *US$ 1.4 billion* in treatment every year.

📉 But progress is possible! Support for ending FGM is growing, and the number of girls affected has fallen from 1 in 2 to 1 in 3 in recent decades. Every $1 invested in ending FGM brings about $10 in benefits — showing that prevention works.
