Marseille is the largest city in southern France, capital the region Provence, as well as the first port of France, fourth in the Mediterranean and in Europe. Founded by the Greeks during Antiquity, it is one of the oldest French cities. In 2013 it was European Capital of Culture.

- The Vieux Port (Old Port), around which the city developed over the centuries.

- The Marseille Cathedral ( La Major ), a large neo-Byzantine building.

- La Canebière , the central avenue of the city that once connected the fields north of the city with the Vieux Port.

- Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, the basilica located on the highest mountain in the city.

The Bouillabasse: is a fish soup, which is served in two portions. The first consists only of soup made from fish, to be enjoyed with croutons and rouille sauce , an accompanying sauce made with garlic, oil, breadcrumbs and chilli. During the second portion, however, the soup is served with the pieces of fish used for the first portion inside.
