"The Chitlin Circuit was a collective of performance venues throughout the USA where it was acceptable for African American entertainers to perform in as we can see in the 1st pic Jimi Hendrix, right, with Wilson Pickett, left, photographed here in New York.
This prejudiced period of United States history lasted from the early 19th century through to the 1960s.
In 1896 the US Supreme Court ruled in Plessy v Ferguson that all US citizens could be 'separate but equal' - which legalized segregation.
This decision allowed bars, restaurants and hotels to discriminate against people on the basis of color.
However, in 1954, in Brown v Board of Education, the Supreme Court under Justice Earl Warren ruled unanimously that 'separate but equal' was unconstitutional." Mail uk.

I love these photographs, it just shows how much fun all are having! And the women's clothes 😍😍 These events seemed so awesome!
Also, these photos educates and shows how we as human beings should learn from the past and not staying in past. ♥️

Today i would like to remember my uncle who died a year ago on july 22th. His name was Alberto but we called it Berto. My childhood was around him since he was very close to my mother as she always looked up to him as her older brother. I grown up around him and his childern (her daughter is my godmother).
He was in Guine during the colonial war in 1970s. During a dictatorship government, he tried to run to France but was capture by the government Police (P. I. D. E.) and was sent the next day to the war.
For years he didnt speak about what was the war. In Portugal for many years the war was a Tabu was expecting to the men that were in the colonial war just to deal with that.
Once when i was in high school i had to do a project bout the war and i interview him and after that day i was always asking him about new things. Slowly he started to recover some pieces from that horrible time. He always said i inspired him to talk about it and made me feel so touched. We had long talks about his ideas, about our ancestry, about life. We was always present in my life and my older brother house.
In the next years he supported me to study history and i supported him to speak about the war which he wrote a book about his own memories and even made a appearance in a tv documentary about the war.
Unfortunately in the years of his life we move apart. He got sick but i never imagine it was end like this. He was a second that to me. I will love him until the day i died and i wish he was still here today, i miss him and regret not being with him.
