QIC Rolls Out First AI Internship Program for University Students

We are proud to launch our first-ever AI Summer Internship Program, bringing together outstanding university students from across Qatar to explore, build, and innovate using cutting-edge AI technologies.

Following a highly competitive selection process, the chosen interns will spend the next eight weeks working alongside QIC experts, gaining hands-on experience in agentic AI, vibe coding, and real-world solution development. More importantly, they will have the opportunity to transform their ideas into functional products that could eventually be integrated into QIC’s digital ecosystem.

This initiative reflects our commitment to developing local talent, advancing AI innovation, and empowering the next generation of digital leaders. As AI continues to reshape industries, we are proud to provide aspiring innovators with the tools, mentorship, and platform needed to make a meaningful impact.

Qatar Insurance (QIC) has announced its financial results for Q1 2026, delivering a strong and resilient performance despite a quarter marked by geopolitical tensions and global market volatility.

QIC’s diversified strategy, disciplined underwriting, and robust investment portfolio continue to drive stable growth and long-term value creation across Qatar, the MENA region, and international markets.

*Net Profit increased by 6% YoY to QAR 217 million
*Gross Written Premiums (GWP)* rose 13% YoY to QAR 3.2 billion
*Insurance Service Result surged 70% YoY to QAR 130 million
*Investment Income grew 10% YoY to QAR 238 million
*Return on Investment* improved to 5.3%

Commenting on the results, Salem Al Mannai, Group Chief Executive Officer, added: “While global conditions shifted significantly during the quarter, QIC continued to expand across key markets. Our balanced portfolio across personal, commercial, life, medical, and specialty lines, alongside our reinsurance operations, has strengthened our resilience and supported sustainable growth. At the same time, our continued investment in technology and our all-in-one digital ecosystem remains central to delivering seamless, customer-focused experiences.”

QIC’s geographical diversification remains a core strength, with 56% of GWPs generated from Qatar and MENA operations and 44% from international markets. Its QAR 18 billion investment portfolio also delivered solid returns, reflecting a prudent and well-diversified allocation strategy.
