The Romanian ie is more than a traditional blouse—it is a symbol of heritage, artistry, and cultural identity, recognized and admired around the world. Its intricate embroidery inspired generations of artists, including Henri Matisse, whose iconic 1940 masterpiece La Blouse Roumaine brought the beauty of Romanian folk costume to international attention.
The photo attached was taken at MNAR (Muzeul Național de Artă al României / National Museum of Art of Romania), where La Blouse Roumaine was exhibited temporarily for the first time in Romania last November, in an exceptional loan from the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The painting had never before left France, making this exhibition a historic cultural event.
