n every systemic intervention I start with a blank piece of paper. Sometimes the less you know about the person, the more space you create for seeing "what wants to be seen NOW".

๐Ÿ™ And Friday evening (28th) was about looking at our Parts. I believe we are not just one way, we have different parts that were born in different moments in our lives when we had challenges, difficulties or maybe traumas. These parts show up in different moments in our daily lives depending on the context and the triggers. The more we exclude one part and the more we don't want to see that part, the more power it has over us when situations similar to what we lived in the past appear.
Sometimes we have to live with contradictory parts: one part that is deeply Fearful while another part is saying "You cannot be fearful, you are so courageous" or "Everything will be alright". Or we experienced a lot of Anger and Sadness and we learned to hide these parts because, maybe, they would mean extra difficulties for our families (already having a lot to deal with). But all these parts are within us and want to be included. That is the first rule of every system that shows up again and again in all constellations: Everything wants to be included. And what is not included gains power over the system.
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆThe Fearful, The Sad, The Angry, The Courageous, The Optimistic, etc, they are all parts of us and they all had their role in our lives at different moments, sometimes they protect us and help us overcome difficulties.
๐ŸŒžA good first step forward is to be able to look at these parts, to understand what role they played for you at different moments in time, and to accept them and maybe offer some gratitude.

In recent years, I have deeply explored systemic theory and have been captivated by how principles from living systems also apply to businesses and to the business environment. A fundamental principle is that every part of a system needs to belong, to be seen, and acknowledged. This is how the system can move forward. According to this principle, every specialist needs to belong to a category of like-minded individuals, and every company needs to measure its efforts against the market and other players. Maybe it is not explicitly written in the Effieโ€™s mission, but I can see that this competition is trying to fulfill this systemic role by ensuring that everyone in the marcomm industry feels a sense of belonging, maintains certain standards, and can aspire to greatness. My mission as moderator at Effie is to make sure this principle is respected in the judging process as well, all voices are heard and all campaigns are fairly judged, and this is one reason I enjoy participating in the Effie awards competition every year.
