✨ Next on our journey, we became familiar with the 5E Experience Design Model and the principles of gamification. We explored why experiential learning is so impactful, particularly its ability to strengthen knowledge retention by connecting learning with emotions.

We reflected on how learning “sticks” more effectively when experiences are associated with feelings rather than theory alone.

This understanding guided us to consider novelty, sensory engagement, and emotional connection as essential elements when designing meaningful learning experiences.

Using the Vision Backcasting Collaborative Framework, on Day 3 we continued the design of our learning prototypes by reflecting on our individual contributions and group dynamics, strengthening collaboration within the teams.

We developed a shared and comprehensive vision for our prototypes by exploring future possibilities through the VBC framework, identified target audiences and key stakeholders to enhance community-building strategies, outlined the essential competences, skills, and mindsets required for successful learning journeys, and drafted a structured programme framework covering content, implementation, measurement, and testing strategies.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane ✨

NorthStar: A Learning Design Framework for Youth Work in a Changing World was created to address a key gap in youth work practice. The project focused on strengthening youth workers’ competences in learning design by blending insights from non-formal education, experiential learning, neuroscience of learning, and motivation theory.

Rather than replacing existing practices, NorthStar aimed to enhance them, bringing greater intentionality, coherence, and reflective depth to learning processes.

Together with 20 passionate youth workers from 10 countries 🇷🇴 🇧🇬 🇬🇷 🇪🇸 🇮🇹 🇹🇷 🇲🇰 🇧🇪 🇱🇹 🇵🇱, we explored how to design and deliver learning experiences that are more effective, structured, and impactful, strengthening youth work across borders.

Day 8 🌞
In the first part of the day, we shared the results of our interviews, exchanging ideas and perspectives that helped us understand our topic even better. 🎥🎙️

Later on, we presented the infographics we had created in teams, sharing our insights and creative approaches with the others. 🎨💡

It was amazing to see everyone collaborating, stepping out of their comfort zones, and turning information into impactful visuals. 🤝
We ended the day spending time together, enjoying one of our last evenings as a team.🫶
