Todays is International Day for Women in Mathematics! The British High Commission in Rwanda joins Building Learning Foundations (BLF), Rwanda Education Board (REB) and, The African Institute for Mathematics Sciences in Rwanda to celebrate this day while acknowledging some of the women mathematicians.
Dr Cornelie Mitcha Malanda
On this we celebrate young females such as Dr Cornelie Mitcha Malanda, a Teaching Assistant at . She attained a PhD in Mathematics at the age of 25 making her the youngest female holder of a PhD in Mathematics in her country-Republic of Congo.
Chantal Uwiragiye-Mathematics Lead, BLF
Chantal leads the numeracy component of the Building Learning Foundations (BLF) Programme in Rwanda, a flagship programme focused on improving learning outcomes in Mathematics and English through self-study and school-based peer support. She has over 15 years of experience in developing literacy and numeracy materials for teachers and learners. On this , we thank Chantal for her support in leading the development of radio lessons that were aired during the C-19 lockdown in Rwanda.
