Last Saturday, we had one of the most powerful webinar sessions with Dr. Sayed Himatt (Public Health Consultant and One Health Advisor). He guided us through the vital role field epidemiologists play in implementing the One Health approach.
The session explored how integrating human, animal, and environmental health is crucial for detecting and responding to outbreaks especially in settings like Sudan. We learned how field epidemiologists act as the link between sectors, finding early signals, coordinating response, and helping prevent future epidemics.
Dr. Sayed actually shared with us a lot if real-life scenarios and strategies for teamwork between ministries and professionals to build better preparedness in Sudan. In the lively discussion, a lot of experts shared their thoughts about how and how much we need One Health collaboration to tackle emerging threats like zoonotic diseases outbreaks.
