👀 How can you better keep IT talents?

How to win this battle?...👇

1. Transparency/clarity

An organisation should be transparent so employees would know clarity in their role and see a clear career path in the future in the organization.

Regular feedback is in demand for young professionals. Instead of annual reviews, they prefer monthly discussions and honest feedback to work on their development.

2. Analytics

It's hard to make decisions when you don't know much about your employees.

Keeping strong data with individuals weaknesses and strengths will help you make better decisions within development opportunities. Invest more time in mentoring and training to avoid addressing a massive amount of issues at once.

3. Learning agility

Focus on creating a learning culture at an IT organization to provide your employees with a chance to take ownership in their development, rather than being told what to do by management.

An effective way is to focus on a couple of skills or competencies and practice them with a team for a certain period. After some time add new skills to maintain development.

The organization and employees will become more productive and engaged.

4. Employee engagement

Employee engagement has never been so important in history.

Every year it becomes much harder to find and retain talents, that is why it is important to keep them interested and engaged.

An effective way to keep them engaged is to implement regular meetings or conversations with each employee. That way you will demonstrate that the person is valued within the organisation and has good chances to grow in this company.

5. Navigating internal mobility

To avoid risks of losing employees, you need to provide a chance for constant personal development, and a good way to do it is by giving employees new positions within the organisation to gain more expertise and get more attached to the organisation.

Reassess your leadership techniques for the younger workforce. The times have changed, the younger generation is not planning to work in the same organisation for 30 or more years. However, one thing you can do is to provide them several careers in your company. Demonstrate your initiative by offering a new position or role to avoid your employee leaving.

Open new opportunities for your employees inside of your organisation, that way you will increase their engagement and expertise.
