Across Africa, millions of children still miss out on life-saving vaccines each year.
At the Immunization Partners Meeting in Madagascar, civil society organizations, Gavi, and GHAI reaffirmed one urgent call: governments must take stronger leadership in financing primary health care and immunization.

Sierra Leone’s CSO delegates, Musa Ansumana Soko (WASHNet) and Victor Lansana Koroma (Health Alert), highlighted that sustainable health outcomes depend on political will, transparency, and community voice.

I recently came across a video on social media that truly moved me; a Sierra Leone Police officer speaking from the heart, urging his colleagues to practice fair, accountable, and people-centered policing. His words weren’t just a call to his fellow officers; they were a reminder to all of us that integrity and service are the foundation of trust between citizens and those who protect them.

What struck me most was the humility and courage it takes to speak truth within one’s own institution. That is the kind of leadership Sierra Leone needs, a leadership that listens, reflects, and reforms.

This moment goes beyond policing; it’s about rebranding public service itself: from power over people to service for people. If more voices within our systems echo this honesty, we will not only restore confidence but also build a police force that truly works for its people.

Led by Rob Sinclair and at the convening of the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW), this was the team that worked on the first Strategy for Mainstreaming Youth in Water and Sanitation. It was a thrilling experience working with these experts throughout the course of the process.

This photo brings back memories from my time as Youth Advisor at UN-HABITAT. It was taken during the Youth21 convening at the UN headquarters in Gigiri, Nairobi; a proud for many if us young people back then having a priceless moment standing alongside H.E. Thabo Mbeki, former President of South Africa. The idea was to have President Mbeki in front while we will be at the back, but that one feeling, everyone wanting to stay as closer as they could, was indeed a memory of lessons that none of us ever wanted to be left behind. The President was so accommodating and he even shared so funny jokes while the photo was taken. Thabo Mbeki African School of Public & International Affairs
