Freetown Waste Transformers signs agreement with MeDomot

On Tuesday, 19th April 2022, Freetown Waste Transformers (FWT SL LTD) signed a contract agreement with MeDomot SL Inc. a software development firm based in Freetown SL, to design, develop, and deploy a waste management software application to support the company's Wast to Energy rollout plans in Freetown.

You would recall that is one of 10 startups that recently won the grant for the , (which is currently funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and supported by the GSMA and its members) to support in and .

MeDomot SL Inc. is a young tech firm made up of youthful innovative and creative Sierra Leonean tech experts with vast experiences in coding and app development. We are delighted to pursue this collaboration to push forward a homegrown sustainability initiative, as it underpins FWT's outlook to nurture local talent.

The partnership between the two firms will set the tone for the digital transformation that is needed to deliver digital public good for effective and efficient service delivery. MeDomot Inc. will engage with stakeholders across the city - from citizens, regulators, and waste collectors, to get a comprehensive understanding of the waste management sector and infrastructure, which will inform its design, and subsequent development processes to provide real-time data which will support FWT as it scales its operations across the city.

In addition to FWT, the other direct beneficiaries of the application will be the citizens of Freetown who will be able to utilize the app for waste collection services, The Waste Collection Management Association, and the Freetown City Council. There will be regular updates on the progress of the development of the application that will be shared leading up to the proposed launch date of December 2022.
