Kweku Lisk Blends Football Governance with World-Class Spectacle in Qatar

His Worship the Deputy Mayor of Freetown and Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Executive Committee member, Kweku Melvin Lisk (ESQ), has successfully concluded a significant three-day working visit to Doha, Qatar. The trip, centered on global football governance, also offered a front-row seat to one of the sport's most thrilling club contests.
Lisk was in Qatar to attend the FIFA Committees Plenary and the pivotal FIFA Council meeting on December 17. These gatherings are where the strategic vision for global football is set, covering everything from tournament regulations to development initiatives. His participation underscores Sierra Leone's active engagement in the sport's international administration.
The working visit was also a moment for high-level networking. Lisk joined a distinguished cohort of football administrators, including Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo, who serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the FIFA Institutional Relations Committee. Also in attendance were other committee members such as Adwa Abdulrahman, A. Alarifi, and FIFA Council delegate Razvan Burleanu.
A professional highlight of the trip was witnessing the 2025 FIFA Intercontinental Cup final. The match, held at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, was a dramatic encounter where France's Paris Saint-Germain clinched their first world title by defeating Brazil's Flamengo 2-1 in a penalty shootout. The event showcased the exceptional world-class sporting infrastructure Qatar has continued to build and perfect.
Beyond the pitch, Lisk's profile is one of significant national service. Elected Deputy Mayor in October 2023, he is also the managing partner of a prominent law firm with extensive experience in international corporate law. This blend of legal acumen, civic leadership, and sports administration positions him as a unique asset in efforts to develop football in Sierra Leone and advocate for the nation's interests on prestigious international platforms like FIFA.
