Respond to Tearz Ayuen by Ruac Liep wuor

Dear Tearz Ayuen,

The Nuer nation has heard your message loud and clear. Your words have only reminded us of one undeniable truth: when the liberation struggle demanded courage, sacrifice, and resistance, it was the Nuer people who stood firmly against oppression without compromise.

While others surrendered their dignity, collaborated for comfort, and traded away the future of their own people for temporary favors and political survival, the Nuer refused to kneel. Our fathers, mothers, youth, and elders carried the burden of war, displacement, hunger, and death because freedom meant more to us than convenience.

It is painful and deeply insulting to label the very people who resisted slavery, humiliation, and injustice as “useless” or “stupid.” History does not honor those who bowed to oppression; it remembers those who stood against it despite the cost.
The Nuer people have never feared sacrifice. From the battlefields to the refugee camps, from the cattle camps to the frontlines of liberation, our blood has watered the foundation of what is now called South Sudan. That truth cannot be erased by bitterness, propaganda, or political frustration.

And yes, time and history will eventually reveal the real custodians and original inhabitants of the lands you mentioned. Truth has a way of surviving long after emotions and insults fade away.
As a proud Nuer son, I appreciate your indirect recognition of our history, bravery, resilience, and unmatched spirit — even if it was expressed with bitterness. Your words unintentionally confirm what many already know: the Nuer spirit cannot be broken, silenced, or erased.

May God keep people like you long enough to witness the courage, dignity, unity, and manhood that continue to define the Nuer society.

Regards,
Ruac Liep Wuor
