The crisis within the SPLM/A-IO today is increasingly appearing to be a struggle between those who remain committed to the liberation vision and unity of the Movement, and those who see the current situation as an opportunity to pursue personal political interests after feeling excluded from previous appointments under H.E. Dr. Riek Machar.

Many cadres sacrificed for this Movement long before positions and titles became the focus and I was physically there when it was founded in KuanyLualThuan/ Nasir 👉🏿my hometown. The SPLM/A-IO was founded on principles of liberation, justice, reform, and collective struggle — not individual ambition. It is therefore dangerous when some people begin to view the current uncertainty surrounding the Chairman as a pathway to settle personal grievances or reposition themselves politically.

Dr. Riek Machar remains the one and only legitimate Chairman of the SPLM/A-IO. Loyalty during difficult times is what defines true comradeship. This is the moment to defend the unity, vision, and constitutional leadership of the Movement — not to exploit the crisis for personal advancement.

Those who believe personal gain is more important than the liberation struggle should reflect deeply on why this Movement was created in the first place, otherwise the door for exiting is very wide open for anybody to walk away.
