“I Have Suffered for 15 Years” 21-Year-Old From Wunrok Appeals for Help to Treat Serious Facial Condition
Jiel Ayuel Mabok, a 21-year-old from Ajong in Wunrok Payam, is appealing for urgent medical support after living with a serious facial condition for the past 15 years.
Jiel has been suffering from a large lump on the right side of his face, a condition he says has caused him years of pain, stigma, and isolation. According to him, his family is vulnerable and has not been able to afford the medical treatment required for his condition.
He said his case was referred to Juba for further treatment, but the family has not been able to get assistance to continue with the process.
The condition has also affected his education and social life. Jiel revealed that he has not been able to attend school because of stigma and discrimination, adding that many people feel uncomfortable around him because of his appearance.
Now, he is calling on well-wishers, humanitarian organizations, and individuals willing to help vulnerable people to support him in accessing treatment and rebuilding his life.

South Sudan Declares Eid Al-Adha Holiday from May 27–29, Work Resumes June 1
The National Ministry of Labour has announced a three-day public holiday for Eid Al-Adha from Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29, 2026.
The holiday applies to government institutions, NGOs, private sector institutions, diplomatic missions, and the general public across South Sudan. Official work will resume on Monday, June 1, 2026.
The Ministry also urged the public to celebrate peacefully and observe health precautions, especially when traveling to neighboring countries affected by the Ebola outbreak.
