🚨PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE LEADERSHIP OF RED BELT, BOR

By:- Leek Mamer Leek

Red Belt is not a rebel group but rather a local defense or community protection force in Jonglei State, established to regulate the following in our community.

Its primary agenda is to protect civilians from violence and instability against the Murle criminals that we have endured for decades.

We formed this group in Jonglei state to defend citizens against Murle criminals and other rebel groups that target the government and the local population. In addition to that, the Red belt, is not against the government, what happened on Saturday was a misunderstanding that led to defamation.

The Red Belt group believes in the regime of President Salva Kiir until infinity, all the propaganda against us was surprising. Our goal is to make our community peaceful once again after years of suffering from criminals.

Red belt is not a political party or a rebel group, here is what actually happened, the National Security Service was used and bribed by Murle political leaders and Nuer politicians to attack one of the tea places they believed to be a Red belt base where they accidentally killed a soldier from division eight.

Moreover, Red Belt didn't declare any war against the government or the citizens of Bor. This is a political agenda proposed by Nuer political leaders and Murle politicians so that the group can not exist anymore, for Murle youth to resume their actions of raiding cattle and abducting children in Jonglei state.

Red belt is not a group like Cobra of Murle, cobra killed a lot of commando members in various conflicts in the past.

Early this month, Hon. Riek G*i held a meeting with Nuer rebel group leader Mr. Makuach Tut, during the meeting, Riek reportedly expressed his intention to undermine and destroy "Red Belt" by any means necessary. His motive appears to be clearing a path for Makuach Tut to move freely towards Juba.

The Red Belt, which controls a strategic area in Jonglei State, poses a significant obstacle to rebel movements in our State. Therefore, Riek Ghai Kok is allegedly attempting to discredit the Red Belt by labeling it as a rebel group, despite its apparent role in maintaining order in the region. This defamation seems to be part of a broader strategy to weaken the group’s legitimacy and facilitate their motives.

We are calling on the National government to take action and look seriously into this political matter that will affect our people and our State, we also call on our community to see the real motive behind this scenario.

Thanks, Mamer Leek
