Hundreds of supporters of the South Africa's controversial opposition firebrand Julius Malema have gathered in the streets of eastern KuGompo City to await his sentencing on gun charges. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader could face up to 15 years in prison following his conviction for violating gun laws. The case relates to the use of a firearm at a rally in 2018. US President Donald Trump has called for the jailing of Malema who won a court battle years ago for singing “Kill the Boer,” an Apartheid-era chant about white Afrikaners who were then associated with Black oppression.
