Coming from a country still facing humanitarian crises, I often meet barriers that limit my advocacy, including visa denials and lack of funding. This year’s COY19 and last year’s 13th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris were opportunities for me to represent South Sudan and advocate for urgent climate action—yet these doors were closed. The struggle to obtain visas and secure funding not only restricts my access but also limits my community’s voice in global dialogues.
As someone committed to representing my community, it’s discouraging to receive emails that often overlook the voices of those who are most affected by climate change. Every opportunity lost to financial constraints or denied visas feels like another silenced voice, another missed chance to bring my community's urgent needs to the forefront. If diverse voices aren’t at the table, we miss vital perspectives on the issues that affect us all. I’m hopeful that international bodies will create pathways that allow for real representation from regions hardest hit by climate change.

It’s essential for our youth to acquire knowledge about climate change to become future advocates for sustainability. By integrating climate education into school curricula, engaging in community workshops, and leveraging digital resources like online courses, young people can deepen their understanding of environmental issues.
