Commissioner of Lainya County Witnesses Gombura Statue Reinstallation Ceremony

The Commissioner of Lainya County, Hon. Robert Lasu John Morris, yesterday witnessed the cultural blessings and starting of the Gombura statue reinstallation in Lainya town.
The Gombura statue, an icon of the Pojulu people, was removed due to the Agrey Jaden Highway construction. The reinstallation process is set to take a few weeks, with the engineer already on site. The completion date will be announced soon.
The ceremony was marked by traditional rituals and cultural performances, highlighting the significance of the Gombura statue to the Pojulu community.
Hon. Robert Lasu John Morris commended the community for preserving their cultural heritage and urged them to continue working together to ensure the successful reinstallation of the statue.
The reinstallation of the Gombura statue is a testament to the county's commitment to preserving its cultural identity and promoting community cohesion.

Commissioner of Lainya County Attends Handover Ceremony of UNMISS Base in Yei

The Commissioner of Lainya County, Hon. Robert Lasu John Morris, attended the handover ceremony of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) base in Yei today. This significant event marks the conclusion of UNMISS operations in the Greater Yei counties, as the mission transitions its base of operations to the head office in Juba.
The ceremony was graced by esteemed government officials, including the Minister of Peace Building, who represented the Governor, along with the Commissioners of Yei, Morobo, and Kajo-Keji counties. Security forces and other key stakeholders were also present to witness this momentous occasion.
In his remarks, Commissioner Morris emphasized the importance of UNMISS's contributions to peace and stability in the region. He expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration that has been established between UNMISS and local authorities throughout their mission. "Today, we acknowledge the efforts and sacrifices made by UNMISS in fostering peace and security in our communities.
