The Republic of South Sudan, the world's youngest nation, has been embroiled in a brutal civil war since 2013, pitting the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) and its offshoot, the SPLM-IO, against each other. The conflict has ravaged the country, leaving a trail of devastation, displacement, and despair in its wake. The poor and vulnerable citizens, who had pinned their hopes on independence, now find themselves trapped in a nightmare from which they cannot awaken.

*A Legacy of Suffering*
The SPLM, led by President Salva Kiir, and the SPLM-IO, have been accused of perpetrating heinous crimes against humanity, including mass killings, r**e, and forced displacement. The civilian population has borne the brunt of the violence, with millions displaced, and countless lives lost. The economic situation is dire, with widespread poverty, hunger, and disease. The country's infrastructure lies in ruins, and basic services such as healthcare and education are a luxury few can afford.

*Economic Ruin*
The economic mismanagement and corruption have reduced South Sudan to one of the poorest countries in the world. Hyperinflation has rendered the local currency, the South Sudanese pound, almost worthless. Food prices have skyrocketed, making it impossible for ordinary citizens to afford basic necessities. The country's oil wealth, once touted as the key to prosperity, has become a curse, fueling conflict and corruption.
