EES-Torit, 12/May/2025. The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State called for calm and urged the Citizen of EES in paticularly resident of Enyif/Gumbo to return to their respective home and continue with their daily businesses and should avoid rumours that's causing illusions of fear that, there will be insecurity after the killing of SSPDF soldier by an IO. H.E Louis Lobong Lojore, make the remarks during his address to the Citizen of EES, through the Voice of Eastern Equatoria State Radio-97.5 FM. Hence Governnor reiterated, that the deployment of SSPDF at Enyif was basically to provide security to the population due to insecurity being caused by gangs groups(Niggers) and other criminals who are jeopardising the peace in Torit Municipal Council.
H.E Lobong therefore stressed that, the killer of SSPDF personnel will be brought to book and face the law because not all the IO's are involved but it's these individuals who undermined the command are responsible for the crime committed.
Governor further, repeated the stand of EES for peace and sustainable development and appealed for the community to continue with Agriculturial initiatives inorder to fight economic hardship.
In another development, Governor Louis has advised the Citizen to adhere to health precautions by keeping hygiene due to cholera outbreak in greater Kapoeta which is causing massive deaths and called upon humanitarian health workers to rescue the situation since it's an emergency.

Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, visited Lafon County to acquaint himself with the community in the ground and to emphasise on the messages of peace from H.E president of the Republic of South Suden, Gen. Salva kiir Mayardit. As well to accentuate on State government polices and further to note community's challenges in the ground.
H.E Governor Louis Lobong Lojore, reiterated the important of unity and peaceful coexistence with neighbours as significantly paramount.
H.E Governor, urged the community to embark on Agriculture as being the backbone of the State and a country at large. Henceforth, encouraged youth to play a role in competing in trades to change the edification of economy through businesses.
Mainwhile, community outlined challenges facing them that, range from insecurity and child abductions along Mogiri road, in adequate health services and recurring flood that resulted to shortage of food, needs for feeder roads that links county to payams and Bomas. However the crucial concerns are noted and the State government will perform its mandatory roles to address the challenges including the insecurity with the counter parts because it's a matter of threat to human kind.
Governor Lobong was accompanied by members of State cabinets, Rt. Hon. Speaker- EELA and members of TNLA/State who represent various consistencies in lafon County.

Eastern Equatoria State, hosted the Celebration of International Day of Forests, under the theme: Forests and Foods.
The occasion was organized by the National Ministry of Environment and Forestry in collaboration with the State Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry as well as Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO).
The International event brought in the National Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and National Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries.
During his welcoming remarks, H.E Louis Lobong Lojore, Governor of Eastern Equatoria State appreciated and thank the national Ministry of Environment and Forestry / FAO for choosing EES for this year Celebration, Governor emphasised that, South Sudan is well endowed with diverse natural forests and woodlands of which 33% is covered by trees and 40% shrubs. Therefore, he said the combination of Forests reserves protected areas for National parks and game reserves.
"Our forests are not just a source of timber or firewood but they are a vital source of Foods, medicines and livelihoods for millions of people especially in rural areas" H.E Lobong said.
He further added that, forests is rich in biodiversity as home to variety of plants and animals species; providing essential crops such as sorghum, cassava and maize being key food crops in the state. And diverse variety of plants and animals are equally sources of tourist attraction. Forests need to be protected hence, it's playing singificant role in regulating our climate, protecting our water sources and Maintaining healthier soil for Agriculture use that's essential for sustainable food production.
The national minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Hon. Onyoti Adigo Nyikwac, acknowledged the important of Forests and called for urgency of working together inorder to protect natural forests and its species including Livestock.
Meanwhile, the national minister of Environment and Forestry Hon. Josephine Napwon Cosmas, reiterated that, the rate of deforestation and forests degradation is high in all the states, she therefore, called for urgent need to reverse the trend because the rampant destruction of Forests and green cover is causing severely negative climatic changes in the country.
Hon. Josephine Napwon Cosmas outlined that, in order to promote sustainable forest management in south Sudan, the local community, chiefs and landlords must not be allowed to invite logging companies to operate in their areas without due process of approvals by concerned authorities. They must ensure that forests are managed responsibly and sustainably by prioritizing conservation, restoration and biodiversity; the national Ministry of Environment and Forestry has issued ministerial orders and all must be adhered to. However, she said the ministry has developed forests policy and forests bill, is being first-tracked through the ministry of justices and constitutional affairs. She noted, that it's very crucial to educate people about the importance of forests and encourage them to take action interm of its protection.
In his addressed, Hon. Hussein Abdel Baggi Akol national minister of Agriculture and Food Security, stated that, these rare highland and lowland forests which host ecosystems which is found in South Sudan significantly rich in ancient trees, medicinal plants, endangered species like the African cherry and De' Brazzer's Monkey including birds. It's for generation that these forests have been the foundation of livelihoods that provides clean water, fertile soil for farming and resources for communities hence it's part of our heritage and guardians for our food security. Hon. Abdel Baggi quoted that, forests are the silent partners of our farmers, they shield crops from harsh winds, prevent floods and attract rains that nourish fields.
Hon. Minister called upon youth to innovate in developing clean energy solutions, plant trees to protect the land, Women are the backbone of farming and forests stewardship, traditional leaders should mobilize and share the wisdom of sustainable land use, private sector should invest in eco-friendly practices that create jobs without destroying nature and development partners should walk with us - support initiatives that, empower communities to conserve and thrive.

EES celebrated international women's day. Under the theme: Empowering Women and Girls to promote Equality, Safety and a healthy Environment.
The occasion was organized and embraced by Ministry of gender,child and social welfare in conjunction with the national government at Torit freedom square.
Addressing the public during the event, H.E
Louis Lobong Lojore, Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, acknowledged the participation of women since Anya-nya, SPLA/SPLM as well as the referendum which brought independence of South Sudan and as a result of their commitment, efficiency and love of a nation. The day is a recognition of their achievements interm of development, peace building across the universe.
Governor, called upon women to take lead in economic diversification to be able to compete in the business world.
H.E Louis further urged, women in the state and across South Sudan to talk to their Sisters to return to their respective states from refugee camps and engage in agri-business and other economic activities to boost the economy and to reduce on over dependency as well as high levels of unemployment because there is no proper reason as to why our people continue to live in the refugee camps.
Governor Lobong, stressed to men and women to fight against tribalism, corruption, idleness and stop being dependent on free aids which is killing Africa and South Sudan.
"Let love always win, my encouragement to both men and women's is to separate family life and political positions to reduce on the cases of failed marriages /divorce or loos of respect for spouse due to differences that arise as a result of employment". H.E louis Lobong said.
He added that, let's improve family wellbeing through love, joy and intermarriages for peace to prevail between tribes.
Meanwhile, the State minister of gender, child and social welfare. Hon. Jennifer Nabongorika, encouraged increase awareness on women and girls on their rights and civic engagement on the promotion and participation in society to overcome their challenges as well highlight the importance of women's suffrage movement and the work to secure and expand equal rights.
Hon. Jennifer called upon the government and stakeholders to take action by supporting and defend women and girl's rights.
