Transforming Urban Futures through Geo-Agricultural Assets and Systemic Innovation
Assoc. Prof. Surasak Kangkhao (Ajarn S), founder of the Heritage Asia Research Community (HARC), together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaturong Louhapensang and Kowit Kwansrisut, joined the 5th Provincial Development Committee Meeting (2025) in Chiang Rai to propose an integrated approach to urgent local issues.
The team emphasized the importance of preserving geo-cultural and agricultural assets—such as wetlands and floodplains—as foundations of long-term urban sustainability. Rapid urban expansion into these zones increases vulnerability to disasters like severe flooding.
Without systemic social and technological innovation, cities remain fragmented and unprepared. A truly resilient urban future requires seamless integration across energy, water, transport, and environmental systems.
