Finding the way how criterion-based tools, such as criterion-based performance lists and rubrics, can be used to improve student performance as well as evaluate it.

In this workshop by Jay McTighe, we’ll examine the characteristics, advantages, and limitations of different types of scoring tools – criterion lists, holistic and analytic rubrics. We’ll learn a practical and proven process for identifying success criteria and designing associated rubrics.

Finally, we’ll examine strategies for using scoring tools for instruction as well as evaluation. A collection of excellent web-based resources will be shared.

Abigail S. Blair - Growing up, I never had a traditional music class and am so glad for it. I learned music by experiencing it and seeing it modeled through my family's love of music. I've never been able to think inside in the box.... in fact, I'm not sure I was ever issued a "box" because I've never found it!
