Mae Fah Luang University Wraps Up APACPH 2025 With Strong Call for Regional Public Health Cooperation
Chiang Rai, Thailand — 7 November 2025
Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) has successfully concluded The 56th Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health Conference (APACPH 2025), held at the Pradu Daeng 1 Meeting Room, E4 Building. Under the theme “Public Health Challenges in a Disruptive World,” the event drew over 600 delegates from 20 countries, marking one of the region’s most significant public health gatherings this year.
Over three days, participants engaged in academic discussions, presented emerging research, and exchanged insights on rapidly evolving health issues affecting communities across the Asia-Pacific.
Awards Highlight Excellence in Public Health Research
The closing ceremony recognized top contributions across seven thematic tracks, with awards for Best Oral and Best Poster Presentations. Winning works ranged from innovative disease prevention strategies to advancements in environmental health and the use of digital tools in public health practice.
Spotlight on the Next Generation of Public Health Leaders
Early-career professionals also took center stage through the Young Investigator Traveller Awards (YITA) and the Early Career Network (ECN) Photo Competition, initiatives designed to inspire creativity and strengthen capacity among emerging researchers.
New APACPH President Takes Office
A key moment of the ceremony was the formal appointment of Professor Dr. Hung Yi Chiou from Taipei Medical University as the new President of APACPH. His leadership marks a new chapter in promoting collaborative public health efforts across member institutions.
MFU Reinforces Its Role as a Regional Academic Hub
The successful hosting of APAPCH 2025 underscored MFU’s growing reputation as a leader in international academic events and public health capacity building. The university’s efficient coordination, combined with strong regional engagement, contributed to the conference’s notable success.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Mae Fah Luang University officially opened The 56th Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health Conference (APACPH 2025). The event welcomed over 600 participants from 20 countries across the Asia–Pacific region, including academics, medical professionals, researchers, and representatives from international public health organizations, under the theme “Driving Force for Well-being and Sustainable Future.”
The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University, who highlighted the university’s commitment to serving as a hub for academic collaboration and health innovation, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on good health and well-being.
Prof. Dr. So Yoon Kim, President of APACPH, congratulated MFU for hosting a world-class conference and presented honorary awards to outstanding public health professionals, including:
• The Professor Kazue K. McLaren Leadership Achievement Award — Dr. Shou-Hsia Cheng
• The APACPH Public Health Recognition Award — Asst. Prof. Dr. Pisanurak Kantavee
• The APACPH Excellence in Leadership Medallion — Dr. Sophon Iamsirithaworn
• The APACPH Medal of Merit — Prof. Dr. So Yoon Kim and Prof. Dr. Philip Baker
The ceremony also featured the presentation of the Young Investigator Traveller Awards (YITA) and a Plenary Session by four distinguished speakers:
• Dr. Richard Brown, WHO-SEARO
• Prof. Dr. Joia Mukherjee, Harvard Medical School
• Dr. Sophon Iamsirithaworn, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand
• Dr. Jarae Witchatay, Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), Thailand
They shared insights on global health policy, medical innovation, and cross-border collaboration to strengthen health systems worldwide.
In the afternoon, participants joined panel discussions and oral presentations covering diverse topics such as public health, digital health, community health promotion, and health equity research — with over 500 research studies presented by APACPH members.
This year’s APACPH Conference reaffirmed MFU’s leadership in advancing global public health knowledge and fostering sustainable well-being across the Asia–Pacific region.

On November 4, 2025, Mae Fah Luang University hosted the 56th Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health Conference 2025 (APACPH 2025).
The first day featured the APACPH General Assembly Meeting and a Pre-Conference Workshop, bringing together representatives from member countries across the Asia–Pacific region to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration in public health.
The event reflected the shared commitment to advancing sustainable health and well-being across the region.
