COSECSA, in collaboration with the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) and supported by the Intuitive Foundation is hosting a five day CPD-accredited Research Methodology Workshop from 25–29 May 2026 at the Grand Legacy Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda.
This workshop brings together selected COSECSA fellows and trainees to build global surgery research capacity and improve surgical patient outcomes across East, Central and Southern Africa.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 COSECSA–CEGS Annual Lecture Series, a continued collaboration between the COSECSA | The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa and the Centre for Equity in Global Surgery (CEGS).
This year’s series will once again bring together leading experts from across the globe to share knowledge and advance practice in Oncology, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery.

The COSECSA Secretariat was honored to host Susan Koshy (CEO, The Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS)) and Renee Fink (CFO, PAACS) at our offices in Arusha today.

The COSECSA | The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa in collaboration with Smile Train, is pleased to announce the 2026 Short-Term Exchange Programme for FCS Plastic Surgery trainees.
This 1-month cross-border exchange (April–July 2026) will support six trainees to enhance skills in cleft lip and palate surgery while strengthening regional collaboration and training quality.

COSECSA is pleased to announce two important training and scholarship opportunities aimed at strengthening surgical capacity and advancing equity in surgery across Africa:
• Post-Fellowship Training in Cleft Care:
Developed in partnership with Smile Train and WACS, this 9-month programme offers advanced, hands-on training in the comprehensive management of cleft lip and palate at COSECSA-accredited training sites.
• Women in Surgery Scholarship Programme
In collaboration with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Association of Women Surgeons Foundation (AWSF), this scholarship supports senior female surgical trainees preparing for the COSECSA Fellowship Examination in 2026.
Both initiatives are designed to strengthen skills, expand access to surgical training, and support the next generation of surgeons in the region.
