Before your safari, there are a few things you need to check off your list. Other than packing your essentials like your camera, external batteries and your safari clothing gear, you need to make sure that you have the below up to date:
1) E-visa to Tanzania: While you can get visa upon landing, the queue can be a bit daunting at the airport, so having your e-visa prior to your arrival could save you time! One thing to keep in mind is that there could be delays in the online application, so we would recommend applying at least 1 - 1.5 month in advance.
2) Don’t forget your shots: aside from the anti-malarial pills, you should check with your family doctor and travel clinic about having your shoots up-to-date. Tetanus shots for one, need to be re-administered every 10 years, so make sure you check. Another recommended vaccine would be Hep A, and Dukoral, which is an oral vaccine to prevent traveller’s diarrhea.
3) Insurance, insurance insurance: Many of us purchase insurance right before our trip, but when it comes to safari, we’d recommend having a comprehensive insurance in place right after you book your safari to ensure you’re covered in the event you need to cancel a trip.
We hope this was helpful, and next up, we will share more on how to prepare for your safari in terms of packing!

A quick overview of lions:
🦁 Lions are the only social big cats, living in groups called prides, and are famous for their powerful roars, which can be heard up to 5 miles away.
🦁 Lionesses do most of the hunting, often working together to ambush prey like zebras and wildebeest. Despite their hunting prowess, lions can be found sleeping or resting for up to 20 hours a day.
🦁 They are also known for their impressive jumps and speed, but a key factor in their lifestyle is conserving energy.
