SABA SABA DAY
Happy International Trade Fair Day to Tanzania!

Saba Saba means "seven seven" in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania. This was an important date in the history of the country as it was on July 7th 1954 when the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) was founded. TANU would go on to play an important role in the journey to independence and the merging of Tanganyika and Zanzibar to create the United Republic of Tanzania in 1964.

Dazzle effect 🟠

Zebras stand close to each other primarily for safety reasons. The close proximity and the unique striped patterns of the zebra herd create a visual "dazzle effect" that can confuse predators. This makes it difficult for a predator to single out an individual zebra to attack. Additionally, being in a group means there are more eyes and ears to detect potential threats, and they can defend themselves more effectively.

While we are heading towards the end of June and soon entering the month of July, the Great Migration is heading towards the Northern Serengeti and we are looking forward to dramatic river crossings!

The Great Migration in the Serengeti refers to the annual, circular movement of massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles (more than 2 million animals!) in search of fresh grass and water. This migration is a continuous cycle, driven by rainfall patterns, and involves a clockwise route through the Serengeti ecosystem and into the Masai Mara in Kenya.

It is a true paradise for bird enthusiasts!
Amongst the most commonly seen birds, you will find the majestic African Fish Eagle, the colourful Lilac-breasted Roller, the Superb Starling, and the impressive Ostrich, the world's largest bird.
