A man killed this morning under unclear circumstances in Juba has been identified as a senior government official with the Ministry of Petroleum.

The deceased is Conty Okot Bokwaru, the Director General in charge of pipeline affairs at the Ministry of Petroleum. He was shot dead on the Custom–Rock City road in Juba early this morning.

Details surrounding the shooting remain unclear. However, video circulating on social media shows his vehicle riddled with bullets, with his body slumped inside the car.

Family sources say he was trailed before the attack and that he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the killing.
