In a bold move toward intellectual liberation, Mali’s President General Assimi Goïta announced that Grade 9 students will no longer study the French Revolution or French history. This decision marks a powerful step in reclaiming Africa’s educational narrative. For too long, our curricula have glorified colonial legacies while neglecting African heroes, civilizations, and struggles. It’s time we teach our children about the empires of Mali, Ghana, and Songhai — about African revolutions, resilience, and innovation. True independence begins in the classroom. Africa must rise by telling her own story, in her own voice.

Even when the apartheid regime tried to silence him—isolating him on Robben Island for years—his spirit remained unbroken.

Sobukwe's strength reminds us that real change demands sacrifice. He showed us that we must always fight for justice, even when the odds seem impossible. His dream wasn’t just about freedom—it was about unity, pride, and reclaiming our identity as Africans.
