Kappa Kappa Psi celebrates and honors Transgender Awareness Week. The week leading up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, November 13-19, people and organizations participate to help raise the visibility of transgender people and addresses the issues the community faces.
Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observation that honors the transgender lives lost due to anti-transgender violence that year. Founded by Gwendolyn Ann Smith in 1998 as a vigil to honor Rita Hester, the vigil created an important memorial that became the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.
