Thank you to Christ Child Society of Akron for coming to Good Samaritan Hunger Center to pack Buckeye Bags for nearly 3000 children facing food insecurity in Akron Public and Parochial Schools.

💛 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Help Us Serve Akron Public Schools Students! 💛

Good Samaritan Hunger Center is currently seeking volunteers to assist with our Buckeye Bag Packing Program!

Every other Wednesday 3pm to 6pm we pack and distribute food bags to students within Akron Public Schools who may face food insecurity over the weekend. In order to continue serving these children consistently, we NEED your help.

We are inviting:
🎓 Senior students who need volunteer hours
🍎 Teachers who want to support a meaningful cause
👨‍👩‍👧 Parents who would like to give back
🤝 Community members who want to make a direct impact

This is more than packing food — it’s ensuring children have meals when school doors close for the weekend. Your time and service help us continue showing up for the children who depend on us.

Kids Bag Packing Volunteers meet every other Wednesday to assemble bags filled with food for school students for the weekend. The students served by this program rely heavily on the food served in school, and therefore, are at risk of experiencing food insecurity during the weekend.
