Myth: Cats act out of spite.

Truth: Cats don't behave out of revenge or spite. When a cat suddenly starts scratching furniture, avoiding the litter box, hiding, or becoming more reactive, they're usually trying to communicate that something isn't right.

Behavior changes can be caused by stress, fear, frustration, changes in the environment, or an underlying medical issue. Instead of asking, "How do I stop this behavior?" try asking, "What is my cat trying to tell me?"

Understanding the why behind a behavior is the first step toward helping your cat and creating a happier, more peaceful home.

Enrichment Tip

Does your cat love hanging out in the bathtub?

For many cats, the smooth surface, unique sounds, and enclosed space make tubs a fun place to explore and play.

Try tossing a few lightweight toys, pom-poms, or crinkle balls into a dry bathtub and let your cat chase them around. The slippery surface makes the toys move in unpredictable ways, adding an extra challenge!

Sometimes the best enrichment spots are already hiding in your home.

Cat Myth

Myth: Older cats don't like to play.

Truth: Cats of all ages benefit from play and enrichment! While senior cats may not have the same energy as kittens, many still enjoy interactive toys, food puzzles, and gentle play sessions.

Play helps keep their minds active, supports physical health, and can strengthen the bond you share with them.

You're never too old for a little fun!

Sweet senior girl Sasha used to love her interactive play time!

Fourth of July Reminder for Pet Parents

If your pet struggles with fireworks, now is the time to start preparing.

- Refill any prescribed medications early
- Make sure microchip and ID tag information is up to date
- Set up a safe, quiet space where your pet can retreat
- Stock up on enrichment items like food puzzles, lick mats, or favorite toys

Don't wait until the last minute, veterinary offices and pharmacies often get busy as the holiday approaches.

A little planning now can help make the holiday safer and less stressful for your furry family members.

Pretty impressive for such a tiny motor!

Cuddled up, completely relaxed, and hanging off the bed like there's absolutely no consequence.

Cat Myth

Myth: Cats are low-maintenance pets.

Truth: While cats are often more independent than dogs, they still need daily enrichment, play, veterinary care, and social interaction.

A cat's physical and emotional wellbeing depends on more than just food and a litter box.
