Welcome Piper!!! This tiny, sweet, adorable girl found herself as a stray in the Valencia County Shelter this week. She was rescue only when she was not reclaimed because she had a variety of health issues. So after pick-up today, she was taken immediately to our vet. 🙏😉❤️

Tiny little Miss Piper weighs in at about 13 lbs. She has terrible skin, was covered in ticks, and is limping and not putting weight on her back leg. After her vet visit today, her bloodwork was okay, a little concerning on a few issues; however, we will recheck in a month. She is thankfully heartworm negative but does have two tick-borne diseases. So we will need to wait to spay her until she finishes her medication. She will be on medical hold and not available for adoption for a bit. 😉

We had her leg X-rayed, and ithere are no fractures or breaks, so it looks like soft tissue damage and may possibly even be related to tick-borne disease pain. However, we will try some rest, pain meds, and see if that helps her or if she starts to put weight on it.

We do also have some AMAZING news, BIG news of an adventure that we did this morning with Simply Diego’s & KRQE. We will share shortly as well!! 😉🎉🤩

Rex is an energetic, happy boy who loves exploring the yard, going on walks, riding in the car, and playing with his favorite toys (and occasionally blankets and towels, too!). He thrives with an active family and would love a home where someone is around most of the day—whether you work from home or are retired—because being with his people is what makes him happiest.

Rex gets along great with other dogs and loves to wrestle and play. He is crate trained and does well with having his own space. Because he can be protective of his food and treats, he'll do best with a family that understands resource guarding and can give him his own space during mealtime.
