As I'm sure everyone is aware, Open enrollment 2023 is quickly approaching, That being said there are a few important updates surrounding the market that everyone should be made aware of before deciding on a health insurance plan for 2024.

The first update is that the American Rescue Act is ending at the beginning of 2024. What that means to the everyday individual is that the extended subsidies (discounts on monthly payments) surrounding the Obamacare plans will be going away. unfortunately for most people on Obamacare plans, this likely means that you will see an increase on your monthly payments.

The second part of the update is that there are new regulations surrounding short-term health insurance plans. Again, at the beginning of 2024, short-term health insurance plans will only be available for one 3 month term per year, per individual. Meaning individuals will no longer be able to stay on a short-term plan year-round. They will only be used as a temporary solution to keep a individual covered between a gap in coverage.
