Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today we remember those who lost their lives because of their religious beliefs. The world is divided because of our favorite sports teams, our political views, our skin color, and our religious views. But one thing that unites us is the color of our blood. The color that stained the beaches of Normandy, the streets of Jewish neighborhoods, and the gas chambers where so many were lost. Remember that on a day we remember and honor the millions who were killed because of their religion.

April 7, 2004

On this day 14 years ago, my platoon walked into an ambush that would eventually turn into one of the biggest battles of the Iraq war.

Being outnumbered around 5 to 1, they put their lives on the line for their brothers and their country. 4 of my brothers in my platoon were shot that day. 1 in the body and 3 in the head/helmet. All 4 survived. For hours they fought against all odds and with very little ammo left only to be victorious.

On this day the world and the enemy was reminded that 1/27 Wolfhounds are an elite fighting force that would never back down from a fight. Today we salute 1st Platoon Bravo Company and the rest of the Battalion for living up to our moto.
