In Michigan, it is unlikely to have radon enter the home through water supply, but any area of your home that touches the dirt has the potential to invite the harmful radon gas into your home.

❓Do I need radon testing when our home has a radon mitigation system?
✅We recommend getting the radon tested at minimum, every few years because homes settle, new cracks form in the foundation and radon levels can change. This includes homes with the radon mitigation system in the home.
This is an example of why. This radon mitigation system vacuum level appears to have dropped from 1.0 to 0.5. When the home was tested for radon, it was near the EPA action level at 3.7 pCil with spikes above EPA action level of 4.0 pCil.

❓What is a radon mitigation fan?
✅This fan is used in radon mitigation systems to continuously pull air from the soil and vent it outdoors through a pipe that ends above the edge of the roof. This fan should run 24-7. Some are placed in attics or outside to prevent radon from entering the home. They should have a dedicated source of electricity.
❓Do we need to test for radon if we have a mitigation system?
✅Yes! The only way to endure the fan is expelling radon effectively is to test.
