CALLER: Ma’am I ain’t got an emergency, I got a situation. It is TOO. DAMN. HOT. I’m sweatin’ in places I didn’t even know had sweat glands.

DISPATCH: Sir, the temperature is high today, but that’s not—

CALLER: High? HIGH? My mailbox is leanin’ over like it’s tryin’ to find shade. My dog done laid down in the kiddie pool and refused to come out. He said he’s claimin’ it as sovereign territory.

DISPATCH: …Your dog said that?

CALLER: He barked it with authority. That’s legally binding in this county.

DISPATCH: Sir, do you need medical assistance?

CALLER: I need y’all to send somebody with a cold front. A breeze. A church fan. SOMETHIN’. My AC is blowin’ air that feels like somebody exhalin’ on me after eatin’ hot wings.

DISPATCH: Have you tried staying hydrated?

CALLER: Hydrated? I drank so much water I’m basically a human aquarium. I’m sloshin’ when I walk. My thighs sound like two wet balloons fightin’ for custody.

DISPATCH: Sir, this line is for emergencies only.

CALLER: THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. I opened my front door and the heat slapped me like I owed it money. My flip-flops melted into the driveway. I’m barefoot and spiritually defeated.

DISPATCH: …Sir—

CALLER: My neighbor Earl tried to fry an egg on his hood as a joke. It cooked. It COOKED, ma’am. He ate it. He said it tasted like despair.

DISPATCH: Sir, unless you are in danger—

CALLER: I AM IN DANGER. I’m one degree away from turnin’ into a rotisserie chicken. If I pass out, bury me in the freezer aisle at Piggly Wiggly.

DISPATCH: Sir, please stop calling 911 for weather complaints.

CALLER: Fine. But if I melt into a puddle, that’s on y’all. Tell my family I loved them and tell Earl to stop cookin’ hood eggs.

DISPATCH: Goodbye, sir.

FYI, NO ONE EVER lied to you. I show all my breeders, always. Provide pedigree, ALWAYS. At the time I came to you, YEARS AGO, I was seeking pet. NOT BREEDER. I had MY OWN group of babies that I cuddled IN MY ROOM!
YOU KNOW, KIND OF HOW DO YOU!!! I, since then, have chosen that my time/health didn't meet the needs of pet ratties. Seeing as how ALL of my residents get treated as pets, regardless... I switched my focus COMPLETELY onto them, and my health, directly. Not that I need to explain myself to you, because that is not your concern. But, just wanted to clear the air on that. NOTHING you have is worthy of me stooping so low as to lie about any one thing. See, the thing about liars, THEY ALWAYS GET CAUGHT. It's not my style, hun! Not at all! I have a young woman, who was a young teen girl at the time, watch me and my moves. I have ALWAYS led her by example! Maybe you should try that shoe on. I'm confident you won't be able to lace it up, but at least try it. Find yourself, you lost soul! You need serious help. The universe doesn't like ugly! Neither do good people.

As a mother, there is a pain that cuts deeper than words can explain, and that is watching your child be used, betrayed, and relentlessly torn apart for simply being kind, passionate, and talented. For years, my daughter has given so much of herself to the rat community. She has spent countless hours helping people understand genetics, identifying and labeling rats, answering endless questions, sharing the knowledge she worked so hard to gain, and guiding others because that's who she is. She has a heart that loves deeply and gives freely. Sadly, not everyone had the same intentions. Some people took from her. They took her time, her knowledge, her kindness, and even our animals, only to turn around and attempt to destroy the very person who helped them.

One individual in particular received rats from us and later claimed they had severe skin issues. We repeatedly asked for proof because we genuinely wanted answers and wanted to help. We were denied every single time. We were told we didn't deserve proof, despite serious accusations being made against our rattery. Agreements were not honored, and our request to have the rats returned to us was refused. Then, after denying us every opportunity to help or even see the condition of the animals, we were later told they had been culled without our knowledge or consent. As devastating as that was, it wasn't the end.

For over a year, the attacks have continued. Rumors continue. False accusations continue. New people are continuously brought into old drama that should have been put to rest long ago. There seems to be an obsession with keeping our names in people's mouths and trying to destroy a reputation that we have worked so hard to build. What hurts me the most is that the target has always been my daughter. She was only 16 years old when I encouraged her to step forward and share the incredible knowledge she had gained through years of study and hands on experience. Instead of being celebrated for her dedication, she was met with jealousy, resentment, and cruelty from people old enough to know better.

I truly believe that some people saw a young girl with talent, intelligence, and passion and viewed her as a threat instead of an asset to the community. So they tried to break her. They tried to embarrass her. They tried to isolate her. They tried to drag her through the mud and watch her fail. But they underestimated the young woman they were dealing with. They underestimated the strength I raised in her. I watched my daughter cry. I watched her question herself. I watched her heart break over people she once cared about. But I also watched her stand back up. I watched her refuse to become bitter. I watched her continue to love her animals and continue doing what she is passionate about despite every attempt to tear her down. That is resilience! That is strength!! That is character!!! I could not be more proud of the woman she is becoming.

To anyone who has heard false things about us, please know that we have always kept receipts. We have photos, videos, timestamps, and documentation to support ourselves against any false claims made against our rattery. We have remained quiet for far too long in hopes that the drama would eventually end. It hasn't!
At this point, we are strongly considering taking legal action because everyone deserves the right to protect their name and their peace.

To the people who have supported us, defended us, and stood by our side, THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart! And to those who have tried so desperately to break my daughter, YOU DIDN'T!
You made her stronger.
You made her wiser.
You showed her exactly who deserves a seat at her table.
And this mama will never stop being proud of the incredible, compassionate, headstrong young woman who refused to let cruelty change who she is!!!
